We're planning our wedding and trying to be as socially and environmentally responsible as possible. We've booked a cottage outside Rome for our honeymoon. I have my heart set on not flying, but while we could both fly for £200, we can't seem to find train tickets for less than £500, which is way out of our budget. This is despite going on Seat 61 and Rail Europe as soon as tickets were released.
How can we get to Rome by sustainable transport without spending a small fortune? Or if that's not possible, can anyone recommend other honeymoon destinations that we can reach affordably?
Hannah

Idea!
Hi Hannah,
First of all congrats on the wedding.
As for the honeymoon destination, have you ever considered having a honeymoon at home? I know it's too late for you now, but maybe this would be a good idea for the "next time" :)
Seriously, honeymoon at home isn't a bad idea at all.
Buying Viagra for the Wedding Night
If you are about to get married then Viagra is the best thing the FDA can give you as a present. Cialis would also work but Wal-Mart wants you to buy their Viagra online so that they can beat Cialis online.
I also read Wikipedia Viagra page to get more ideas on where to buy US Viagra 50mg online with no prescription.
Viagra for wedding day is a good idea if you have male sexual dysfunction.
Women can also take Viagra for a sexual performance boost.
Cialis and Levitra can work the same way and give the same results as Viagra pills do.
Choose your mode of transport, not your destination
Sadly Hannah's plight highlights the real problem with travelling sustainably - it's very hard to pick where you want to go and then get there cheaply and without flying. The alternative is too look to see where you can go that's affordable, then have a look for places to stay. There's often some real bargains!
Deciding to go to Rome first means you're only looking for tickets to Rome, when there might have been cheaper tickets to Spain or the south of France. I suppose it's too late to get a refund on that cottage?
Interrail or coach
Hi Hannah
You could look into Interrail passes - they're not just for students! Looks like you can get an adult pass allowing 5 days travel over a 10-day period for £195. This would mean you could travel around Italy a bit as well: http://www.raileurope.co.uk
Or you could go by coach! Eurolines do a return ticket from London to Rome for £90 (if you book in advance): http://www.eurolines.co.uk. The bad news is the journey takes 32 hours!
Good luck - let us know what you decide to do

Hannah's Honeymoon
Hi Hannah -
First congratulations on the wedding - and second congratulations on being so environmentally responsible... hooray for you.
I work with a sustainable lifestyle website called TheNag.net, who are on a mission to "change the world one lazy-ass mouseclick at a time" and are basically about making it as easy as possible for us all to get round to doing all those noble environmental things we never quite have time for.
The reason I'm repsonding to your query is that this month our Nag is all about making train travel in Europe and the UK cheaper. Basically, by keeping train fares so high we feel the government is essentially stealing our holidays - and your honeymoon, by the sounds of it... So we are calling on Ruth Kelly to Save Our Holidays! If you log on to www.thenag.net/holiday there's a quick and easy way to send a letter to the Government asking them to tax plane fuel (like lots of other countries do) and use the money to make trains cheaper for the holidays and honeymoons we so richly deserve.
Realistically, this might not happen in time for your big day. So I also wanted to let you know that there's a section where people have left a range of tips and ideas about affordable, environmentally responsible holidays - and somewhere there I hope there might be some ideas to help with your honeymoon problem.
Of course if anyone else reads this and wants to pitch in and save Hannah's honeymoon (and their own holidays, of course) then it would be great if you feel like logging on to TheNag.net and checking it out. Personally the holidays tips section has already got me spending far too much time daydreaming...
Anyway, hope that's helpful - and good luck.
Kate
