We are a new local group who get together to discuss local road safety issues within our village. We propose solutions to the problems, then put pen to paper and contact our village Parish Council and ask them to add the proposal to their agenda for consideration. We provide an informal place for local people to share their views and encourge them to actively be involved in creating a solution.
We meet every first and third Wednesday of the month upstairs at the Drax Hall, Bere Regis, between 6:30pm and 8pm.
Summer 2012: We have just launched two campaigns. The first, 'Double Vision', involves obtaining the necessary permissions from Purbeck District Council and Dorset County Council, in order to erect an 'Eco Green High Visibility Convex Safety Mirror' opposite the end of Green Close, Bere Regis. The area is due to be surveyed by the Council, so shortly we will receive a written report.
The second campaign, '20 is Plenty', involves getting the Council to agree to reduce the speed limit to 20mph along the downhill stretch of the busy C6 road on Rye Hill, Bere Regis. This will create a safer route to school for all the village children and parents who walk the route each school morning and afternoon.
