I'm delighted to be following in Sian Berry's footsteps as the new Sustainable Transport Campaigner. It's a great pleasure to be working with so many like-minded people on a critical agenda and supporting the campaigners who do such great work on the ground.
I joined Campaign for Better Transport at the start of December, from a background in planning public affairs, championing new homes and renewable energy schemes.
For many years I've been involved in local environmental campaigns, including traffic reduction and better road safety, as well as causes ranging from better station accessibility to saving a local post office. I also served eight years as a local councillor with the environment, planning and regeneration portfolio, where I championed car-free housing as part of a wider green agenda.
My focus at Campaign for Better Transport will be on the roads agenda, whether that's supporting campaigns against individual road schemes or challenging the assumptions that new roads are the answer, as well as linking up with work on cleaner air and protecting the environment.
Thank you to everyone who has already made me so welcome. I look forward to working with you and hope to see you soon.
