Local roads funding and maintenance: Campaign for Better Transport responds

28.10.2019 | Anonymous | Roads to nowhere

Reacting to the publication of the Government's response to the House of Commons Transport Select Committee inquiry into local roads funding and maintenance, Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:

"The Government indicating that it supports a longer-term funding settlement for local road maintenance is very welcome. The poor condition of many local roads is a key concern for drivers, bus passengers, cyclists and pedestrians alike. Long-term funding certainty will allow local authorities to plan maintenance and repairs confidently and cost-effectively."
