Building new M4 in Wales is a mistake

16 July 2014

Campaigners respond to the announcement that a new stretch of the M4 motorway in Wales will go ahead with £1 billion in government funding.

Sian Berry, sustainable transport campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport, said: "Building a motorway across the Gwent levels is a huge mistake. At a time when local authorities in Wales are being forced to cut bus services, it's inexcusable to spend billions tarmacking over some of the country's most important habitats."
