Campaign for Better Transport reacts to National Express Group's sustainability pledge

27 February 2020

Reacting to National Express Group's pledge to not buy another diesel bus for its UK operations, Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:

"This is a significant and welcome step from a major bus operator. With the pressing need to tackle air pollution and carbon emissions from transport, we cannot afford for this pledge to be a one-off.

"The Government's upcoming National Bus Strategy should include a clear path to zero emissions with deadlines - and support - for all new buses to be electric or hydrogen-powered by 2025, and all buses on the road to be zero-emission by 2035."
