Campaign for Better Transport has responded to the Government's confirmation of £1bn of funding for Growth Deals in 2015/16.
Sian Berry, Sustainable Transport Campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport said
"Far too much about the Growth Fund goes on behind closed doors and without local people being involved. Government is giving Local Economic Partnerships a huge amount of money and power, but last year only just over half of them ran any form of public consultation on their spending plans. The Government must do more to ensure the Growth Fund genuinely goes on community priorities, and not just the narrow interests of the Enterprise Partnerships."
