Campaigners respond to announcement of losses by M6 Toll company
Sian Berry, Roads and Sustainable Transport Campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport, said: "That the M6 Toll road has made a loss of over £30 million this year is an indication that toll roads don't work economically, but more serious still is that they don't work for people or the environment. Rather than a little-used private road, which can't even make money when there are major roadworks on other routes, people want fast, high quality public transport for inter-city routes, and support to leave their cars behind when it comes to travelling into our crowded town and city centres."
Campaign for Better Transport reviewed the failure of the M6 Toll on its tenth anniversary in 2013: http://bettertransport.org.uk/media/03-12-2013-M6%2B_Toll_ten_years_on.
