Campaign for Better Transport responds to news that twelve rural county bus services will be axed across Leicestershire when the contract between Leicestershire County Council and Leicester-based bus provider, Centrebus, expires at the beginning of May.
Martin Abrams, Public Transport Campaigner at Campaign for Better Transport, said:
“For some people the Rural Rider bus service provides the only link between the isolated villages and local market towns. Leicestershire County Council’s decision to cut buses is a false economy as there are huge social, economic and environmental benefits in having a good local bus service.”
