Campaigners welcome moves to make cycling and walking safer

Responding to the Government's announcement that it will review the Highway Code to make cycling and walking safer, Darren Shirley, Chief Executive at Campaign for Better Transport, said:

"We welcome the Government’s move to make walking and cycling safer and more attractive. We want our streets in every community to be safe for walking and cycling."

1. The Department for Transport has announced a review of the Highway Code in relation to cyclists and pedestrians. It has also announced that a summary of responses from the Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy Safety Review consultation will be published. This is an important step towards improve cycling and pedestrian safety.
