Campaign for Better Transport has welcomed a report calling for better coordination of transport investment in the north of England.
Commenting on the publication of 'Transport for the North' by IPPR North, Stephen Joseph, Chief Executive, Campaign for Better Transport said
"IPPR North's report shows how devolving transport investment away from Westminster can kick-start not just the creation of a modern, integrated transport network, but also one which is genuinely sustainable - reducing the reliance on cars and the need for controversial and environmentally damaging road projects."
The report foresees TfN being charged with supporting the economy, improving the quality and accessibility of transport, and increasing the environmental sustainability of the northern transport network.
