Responding to the Government's announcement of its plan to minimise disruption and help people travel safely during the Christmas travel window, Paul Tuohy, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:
"We welcome the Government and rail industry's efforts to minimise disruption during the Christmas travel window. Many people rely on the railway to connect them with family at Christmas and throughout the year, and rail also plays a vital role in reducing road traffic. Measures such as extra trains and carriages are very sensible, but we are also calling for a wider travel window to ensure that everyone who wants or needs to travel by rail this Christmas can do so safely."
