Ivybridge Rail Users' Group was formed by local rail users with the help and support of Ivybridge Town Council. The group covers the Ivybridge area and local parishes where the nearest station is Ivybridge.
The main aims and objectives of the group are to:
- Work with the the rail companies to bring about improvements in the service and facilities at Ivybridge station
- Promote the wider use and benefits of rail travel to the people of Ivybridge and the local parishes
- Work with the local and regional authorities to ensure the station and surrounding areas are kept maintained and in a clean, safe and secure condition
The group holds meetings twice per year at Ivybridge Town Hall. Contact the group for meeting dates and times.
Campaigning success: We had substantial success in 2006 when the Department for Transport intended to reduce our service from 24 trains each day down to just six. We held a public meeting which was attended by over 100 members of the public as well as our local MP and Devon Council representative and the area manager for First Great Western. We managed to retain 18 services in the finality.
