North Staffs Pensioners' Convention (NSPC) is a local, volunteer led organisation (one part-time paid worker) with a 25-year history. Based in our office in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, the Convention has a paying membership of 350 living in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle Under Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands, plus 18 affiliated organisations.
We take up issues related to the health service, social care, housing, public transport etc. The group's monthly public meetings at the Potteries Museum in Hanley are attended by an average of 70 people and a 25 to 30 strong contingent travels to the annual 3-day Pensioners' Parliament in Blackpool.
The NSPC gathers evidence of older people's experiences and draws on the expertise of its members when drawing up reports and having an input into policy issues. We also publish a quarterly newsletter called Grey Power which is distributed to members, local councillors, MPs and others.
In 2016 NSPC published its Public Transport Services and You Manifesto.
February 2016: NSPC's latest Grey Power newsletter covers the group's Public Transport Manifesto and much more.
