Interests: Road building
Sudbury Vision was a group set up to stop a proposed bypass/relief road from crossing the famous water meadows of Sudbury. The group comprises a varied mix of concerned residents, activists and green councillors.
We have so far had a Freedom of Information request dating from 2016 that has yielded many documents but is still ongoing and is currently at the appeal stage with the Information Commissioner's Office.
This has so far proven that the Bypass is really only an excuse for building on up to 2,000 hectares of greenfield agricultural land rather than the public position that it is to resolve an Air Quality Management area.
We are proposing a range of alternative solutions: removing some parking in the AQMA, active travel investment, public transport investment, rerouting a strategic lorry route, changing the location of a waste disposal site, changes to the traffic network and Ultra Low Emissions Zones.
We have a petition that has garnered more signatures than the official pro petition, and we have some very good artwork.
If you would like to get involved with the group, please get in touch! We will be holding demonstrations, collecting signatures and working to ensure everyone in the area is aware of what the bypass is all about and why the alternatives we are proposing are better.
