Government rhetoric on air pollution not matched by action

13 September 2016

Reacting to the Government’s response to the Environment Food and Rural Affairs Committee’s Fourth Report into the National Air Quality Plan, Bridget Fox, Sustainable Transport Campaigner at Campaign for Better Transport, said:

"It's clear that the Government's rhetoric on tackling lethal and illegal levels of air pollution is still not matched by action. We urgently need a national network of Clean Air Zones created, backed up by a new Clean Air Act, if everyone is to have air that is fit to breathe.

"Also, the failure to progress a scrappage scheme that would help people and businesses get rid of polluting vehicles is a real missed opportunity."
