New campaigner aims to boost public transport

Martin Abrams has joined Campaign for Better Transport as Public Transport Campaigner.

Martin will lead the organisation’s high profile work fighting for affordable rail travel and the protection of bus services from government cuts.

Martin Abrams said

“It is an exciting time to join Campaign for Better Transport. By making public transport affordable and accessible for everyone we can support communities and the economy. The organisation’s work is essential in helping make this happen.”

Martin has a background in environmental campaigning. He joined the Campaign for Better Transport after seven years at RSPB, most recently as Parliamentary Campaigns Officer.

  • Fair Fares Now campaign which calls for affordable rail fares at all times, reliable services that aren’t overcrowded and straightforward tickets that make train travel simple
  • Save Our Buses which highlights the importance of bus services to the overall transport mix and draws attention to the threats to local bus services including cuts to support from local and national government
