Campaign for Better Transport has responded to the report published by the London Assembly’s Transport Committee which recommends that the Department for Transport devolves control over London’s suburban rail services to Transport for London.
Martin Abrams, Public Transport Campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport, said:
“This report backs up what we already know, that rail services into London are all too often failing commuters. Passenger satisfaction with London suburban rail services is unacceptably low with those travelling into the capital regularly having to deal with overcrowding and poor reliability on top of paying some of the highest fares in the country.
"Transport for London has a proven record of turning around poor performing rail services and improving passenger satisfaction so moves to devolve control of these suburban routes are most welcome.”
