Campaigners call for action to keep London's fares under control

18 January 2014
Campaign for Better Transport has responded to the introduction of new public transport fares in London on 19 January.

Martin Abrams, Public Transport Campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport said

"Many Londoners will be relieved that fares are rising by less than originally planned. However, they are still going up three times faster than wages and adding to the squeeze on living standards. The Chancellor and the Mayor need to work together so the capital's transport network gets the investment it needs, whilst ensuring that affordable ticket prices are the number one priority."

Notes

1. The London Mayor, Boris Johnson, has announced that on 19 January new fares will be introduced on Transport for London services. Full details of the fares increases are available on the Transport for London website.
