The Government has released its response to the consultation on the proposal to create a Major Road Network. The consultation ran for 12 weeks and ended on the 19 March 2018 and received a total of 1,465 responses.
Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:
"Whilst the Government is preoccupied with bypasses and road building, including the creation of the Major Roads Network, the quality of local roads has deteriorated.
"With potholes and poor road surfaces plaguing all road users the Government should be focused on improving the quality of the roads by prioritising road maintenance."
