Campaign for Better Transport has welcomed the Government’s response to its call for evidence on walking and cycling safety. More than 14,000 people took part in the consultation; their top suggestion was investment in safe infrastructure.
Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:
“The Government has shown it takes the concerns of pedestrians and cyclists seriously. We welcome its commitment to prioritise walking and cycling, and its insistence that local government and other decision-makers do the same.
“More active travel brings multiple benefits in terms of health, environment, local economy and quality of life, so the Government’s emphasis on encouraging more people to walk and cycle is to be applauded.”
