Campaign for Better Transport has commented on the release of new National Planning Practice Guidance by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Richard Hebditch, Campaigns Director, Campaign for Better Transport said
"The new National Planning Practice Guidance contains some decent thinking, but it's spoilt by lazy rhetoric about speed bumps and cheap parking in town centres. Experience shows that increasing parking has worsened the problems of many towns. Supporting walking, cycling and public transport are what brings people and business back to our high streets. This guidance needs a lot more work before it becomes a useful tool."
