Government should heed report’s advice

15 June 2009
Commenting on the new report by the Association of Train Operating Companies, Connecting Communities [1], Campaign for Better Transport’s executive director, Stephen Joseph said:

"This report makes the case for linking more towns to the rail network; now the Government must get on with building these lines. Giving more people a real alternative to the car is vital if we’re going to meet our carbon reduction targets."

Notes to editors
[1] Connecting Communities identifies 14 new lines that would give a million people access to the rail network. It was published by the Association of Train Operating Companies on 15 June 2009.
