Campaign for Better Transport responds to news today that the Chancellor, Philip Hammond MP, is to increase taxes for new diesel cars in this year’s Autumn Budget.
Bridget Fox, Sustainable Transport Campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport said:
"We welcome reports that new diesel cars will face higher taxes in the Budget, which was a main feature in our Alternative transport budget, but it needs to be part of a wider package.
“We want to see the revenue used towards a Clean Air Fund, providing alternatives to diesel cars, including investment in better and cheaper public transport, healthy streets and clean air zones."
The Chancellor will deliver his Autumn Budget on 22 November.
