Mayor should stand firm against Porsche

11 March 2008
Campaign for Better Transport [1] today came out in support of the Mayor and Transport for London in moving towards the introduction of an emissions-related congestion charge. It condemns Porsche for trying to prevent a necessary and progressive transport measure.

Richard Bourn, the London Campaigner at Campaign for Better Transport, said:

"Porsche is trying to justify the unjustifiable by acting for unrestrained use of gas guzzling cars in London. There is no reason why people should drive round city centres in vehicles that do about 15 miles per gallon and greatly increase climate change. It's quite right that the Mayor should say so and act accordingly. We support the use of incentives for people to drive more efficient and responsible cars."
