Oxfordshire rises up to oppose new Expressway

13 September 2018

Campaign for Better Transport supports the local campaign calling for the cancellation of the Oxford-Cambridge Expressway.

The new No Expressway Alliance is opposed to any (Oxford-Cambridge) expressway believing the new road would be highly damaging and a waste of public money.

The launch of the local campaign follows the Government’s announcement on Wednesday of its preferred corridor for the new road.

Darren Shirley, Chief Executive, Campaign for Better Transport said:

“We are pleased to support the campaign led by local residents against this highly damaging new road between Oxford and Cambridge. The strength of local concern should raise questions for the Government about its backing of this outdated and expensive proposal.

“The Government should focus on getting the East-West rail link built first along with other sustainable transport measures."
