Area: Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside
The Association is a rail user group with approximately 650 members. It is active in representing the interests of passengers on the Mid Cheshire Line from Chester to Manchester and those traveling between Crewe, Hartford and Liverpool.
To further this, MCRUA:
- Believes in promoting the Mid Cheshire Line as an integral part of the local transport infrastructure
- Is a stakeholder in the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership
- Meets regularly with Northern (the local train operating company) management
- Is represented on local council public transport liaison committees
The Association is also well known for the popular excursion trains, including steam specials on the Mid Cheshire Line, which it has run for years on its own or in association with other groups.
The Committee meets every six weeks and there is an AGM in July. Both are held at The Golden Pheasant, Plumley, Knutsford, Cheshire, which is 20 yards from Plumley Railway Station. There are also occasional public meetings held at various locations along the line.
