Campaign for Better Transport responds to the publication today of the Department for Transport's Quarterly Bus Statistics.
The figures show that for the year ending December 2018, the number of local bus passenger journeys in England fell by 1.6%. Local bus fares in England increased by 4.6%.
Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:
"We urgently need a National Coach and Bus Investment Strategy to end the cycle of dwindling services and spiralling fares, for the sake of the millions of people who rely on buses, and to ensure communities remain connected to the public transport network."
