22 March 2019
Responding to new punctuality measures for train journeys published by the Rail Delivery Group today (22 March), Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:
"This is a welcome move and one which is long overdue. Passengers should be able to board a train and know that they will arrive at their destination on time. Far too many trains are late, and if these new punctuality measures lead to a reduction in late running trains, that that is a good thing for passengers and a good thing for the rail industry. Passengers' trust in the railways has been eroded in recent years, but this new measure will go some way to restoring that faith."
