Welcoming the publication of the Science and Technology Committee's report, 'Clean Growth: Technologies for meeting the UK's emissions reduction targets', today, 22 August, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport Darren Shirley, said:
"With transport the largest-emitting sector of the UK economy, the Government must update the strength and pace of its activities across all forms of transport if it is to reach its Net Zero targets. That means transformative investment in a charging network for electric cars and bringing forward the end date for polluting petrol and diesel engines to 2030, as well as action to improve walking, cycling, car-sharing and public transport, giving us all more choice in how we travel. We need a rolling programme of rail electrification and a national strategy for buses that makes Britain a leader in low carbon public transport."
