The members of the Tyne Valley Line Rail Users' Group have an interest in the rail service that runs from Newcastle to Carlisle. Some are regular rail users, some occasional users, would-be users and others, such as Parish Councils, which have an interest on behalf of their communities. The group was formed in March 2000 with the twin aims of improving the service offered to passengers along the line and encouraging rail travel.
The group lobbies the train operating company (currently Northern Rail), the Department for Transport, Passenger Focus, Northumberland County Council, Cumbria County Council, Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership and others on all public transport issues.
2014: We are currently involved in COGS, the Campaign to open a Station at Gilsland, and lobbying to influence the next franchise.
