It’s back! Better Transport Week 2026

21 April 2026

Campaign for Better Transport has announced the dates for this year’s Better Transport Week, its annual celebration of public and shared transport, and active travel.

This year, the week will run from 15 to 21 June and will focus on how better transport can help connect people and places.

Ben Plowden, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said: “We’re delighted to be running Better Transport Week for a fourth year and are pleased to once again have support from the Department for Transport and Bauer Outdoor Media. Good public transport networks help connect us to the people we love, the things we need and the places that matter, creating thriving places and stronger communities, and building a fairer future for everyone. We think that’s something worth celebrating.”

Better Transport Week 2026 is being funded by the UK Government. Local Transport Minister, Lilian Greenwood, said: “Better Transport Week is a chance to celebrate the people keeping our country moving and to bring the sector together to share ideas and support communities.

“With the progress we’re making to local transport, giving local leaders more control over buses, investing record amounts to fix potholes, and supporting more contactless, tap-and-go travel, this year’s theme of connecting communities couldn’t be more relevant.

“We know that good public transport is vital for helping people get to work, access essential services, and stay connected to friends and family. That’s why improving everyday journeys and supporting growth in every corner of the country is our priority.”

Bauer Media Outdoor is the headline sponsor of Better Transport Week 2026. Neil Chapman, Product Design Director Europe & UK from Bauer Media Outdoor, said: “Better transport relies on better infrastructure, and we’re proud to partner with Campaign for Better Transport to help deliver exactly that. Our focus is on designing bus shelters and street furniture that is comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable, and genuinely improves people’s journeys. By combining our product innovation and expertise with the charity’s policy insight, we can help raise national standards and create transport environments that more communities want to use every day.”

Better Transport Week is the annual celebration of how safe, accessible, affordable, reliable, integrated and green transport can connect communities and bring people together. Last year, more than 100 organisations supported the week – from the Department for Transport and local authorities to transport industry, NGOs, businesses and passenger groups – promoting the benefits of public transport, shared mobility, walking, wheeling and cycling.

Alongside an exciting week-long line up of online and in person events all over the country, Campaign for Better Transport will once again be hosting the Better Transport Conference on Friday 19 June in London. This year the free one-day conference will open with a keynote speech from Lord Hendy (invited) and is being sponsored by AtkinsRéalis. Book you free place here.
