About us

Transport affects everyone: how easily we can get around, how lonely or connected we feel, the air that we breathe and the quality of our environment.

Campaign for Better Transport is the national organisation that advocates for better, greener, fairer transport for all.

Our vision is for all communities to have access to high-quality, sustainable transport that meets their needs, improves quality of life, reduces inequality, and supports a vibrant, productive and decarbonised economy.

How we work

We press those in power, notably the UK government but also the Welsh government, directly elected mayors and local councillors, as well as business leaders, to make transport better. In this, we are helped by many thousands of our supporters who take part in our campaigns. We carry out research and publish recommendations that have an impact. And we champion sustainable transport in the media.

We work together with local and national governments, transport providers, passenger groups, other charities and NGOs to find solutions to transport problems.

We have been campaigning since 1973 to improve transport, tackle climate change and create a more inclusive society. Find out more about our history.

You can read more about us in our Strategy.

"When we first moved into the village, things were very different to now: the buses ran seven days a week. Over the years we have seen these services slowly erode."

Boost buses and trams

Campaign for Better Transport is working to protect and increase bus services and improve journeys, and to get more tram networks built.

Get on board

I care about transport. I don’t want a future of traffic jams and dirty air. I want the Government to back public transport for a greener, fairer transport future. Please send me campaign actions and updates by email.
