Rail ticketing in the North: Campaign for Better Transport reacts
24 July 2025
Reacting to the announcement of an initiative to expand the availability of advance rail tickets across publicly owned operators in the North of England, Ben Plowden of Campaign for Better Transport said:
“This is a positive example of the changes we need to see from rail reform, benefiting passengers and encouraging more people on board. It’s also exciting to see mobile data being used to identify barriers to rail use and action being taken to remove them. Affordability and simplicity are both key considerations for travellers, so welcome initiatives like this should be rolled out across the whole rail network.”
