Better Transport Week
Better Transport Week is Campaign for Better Transport’s annual celebration of sustainable transport. Working with the transport industry, national and local governments, NGOs and transport users, we celebrate the role of better transport in connecting communities and bringing people together.

Responding to the fuel price crisis
In response to the fuel price crisis the Government should be pulling out all the stops to improve public transport, walking, wheeling, cycling and shared transport. It should set a national mode shift target, for more journeys to be made by these efficient modes.
Reconnecting communities
We are campaigning to reconnect communities cut off from the transport network by reduced bus services or rail line closures, some of them dating back to the Beeching cuts. We identify the worst-affected areas, highlight the problems they face, and identify the best ways to improve connectivity.

Transport and planning
We campaign to ensure that the Government’s changes to the planning system have sustainable transport at their heart, and that new housing developments have good local facilities and good public transport and active travel links, to reduce car dependency.

Better everyday journeys
We are engaging with employers, schools and NHS trusts to highlight how better transport decision-making can create efficiencies and improve health outcomes. By campaigning to reinforce the connection between transport and other key public services, we aim to improve everyday journeys.
