London's Day Travelcard was under threat...
The Day Travelcard is a paper ticket which makes it simple and affordable for people to travel around the capital by train, tube and bus.
It’s especially handy for people from outside the city limits who want to travel into London and then feel free to hop on and off the city’s transport. They can buy a train ticket into London, with a Travelcard as an add-on.
What’s good about the Day Travelcard?
- It’s good for individuals: the Day Travelcard often works out cheaper than ‘touching in’ using a contactless card
- It’s good for families and school groups: Family Travelcards, Child Travelcards and Group Travelcards make it simple for children to travel cheaply – this is much trickier to sort out if you pay by another method
- It’s good for people with disabilities: your Disabled Person’s Railcard gives you a discount on your Day Travelcard
- It’s good for people who don’t use contactless or mobile payments: shouldn’t we be making public transport easy for everyone?
- It makes life simple! This is the sort of simple, integrated ticket we want to see MORE of, not less!
