MPs’ report backs our call for a January fares freeze

Responding to the publication of the Transport Select Committee report into May’s rail timetabling chaos, Darren Shirley, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:

“This report confirms yet again that there are clear and widespread failings with the way the railways are currently structured and operated. We have a railway that is not focused on its passengers’ needs, and that has to change. We have long called for a fares freeze for 2019, so are pleased MPs agree that this would help restore passengers’ faith in the railways until more long-term, and more fundamental reforms, can be put into place.”
