Better Transport Week 2025 launches in Wales
Campaign for Better Transport and Transport for Wales have joined forces to launch this year’s Better Transport Week in Cardiff.
Better Transport Week is an annual celebration of how better transport can help connect communities and bring people together and was launched in Wales at Cardiff Railway Station on Monday (16 June).
Silviya Barrett, from Campaign for Better Transport, said: “I’m delighted to be here in Wales today to launch Better Transport Week 2025. Good public transport networks, shared travel, walking, wheeling, and cycling help connect us to the people we love, the things we need and the places that matter. That’s why I’m particularly pleased to be in Cardiff to see the amazing transformation to the region’s transport network and celebrate the work of Transport for Wales in helping connect communities and bringing people together.”
To launch Better Transport Week in Wales, Campaign for Better Transport were joined by Georgina Wills, Customer Delivery and Events Planning Manager from Transport for Wales to celebrate the improvements delivered by the South Wales Metro scheme to improve connectivity, simplify ticketing through Pay As You Go and increase service capacity ahead of several major events in Cardiff this summer.
Georgina Wills, Customer Delivery and Events Planning Manager from Transport for Wales, said: “We’re proud to welcome the Campaign for Better Transport to Wales for Better Transport Week to discuss some of the exciting developments we have made over the last few years which have significantly improved the customer experience for passengers on our network.”
Better Transport Week brings together the transport industry, national and local government, business, NGOs and passenger groups to celebrate how transport can keep us connected. Better Transport Week 2025 is being funded by the UK Government.
Local Transport Minister, Simon Lightwood said: “Better Transport Week is a brilliant chance to shine a light on the local transport champions who keep passengers moving, and to swap ideas and build the relationships that make our transport networks stronger.”
