Bus funding: Campaign for Better Transport’s reaction
5 December 2025
Responding to the Government’s announcement of multi-year bus funding for local authorities, Ben Plowden, Chief Executive of Campaign for Better Transport, said:
“Buses are relied upon by millions of people, to access work, education and healthcare, connect with friends and family, visit high streets, and so much more. This funding has changed in two important ways for which we have long campaigned and which we welcome. It is multi-year funding, allowing local authorities to plan properly how best to support local bus services. And it’s based on local needs, rather than which local authority makes the best bid. We are glad to see buses being funded in this way, as the essential public services they are.”
