National Trust urged to rethink car park plans

2 May 2023

Responding to National Trust plans to build the Peak District’s biggest car park, Norman Baker, from Campaign for Better Transport, said:

“It is disheartening to see that the National Trust’s response to growing visitor numbers is to expand car parking provision rather than exploring more sustainable transport alternatives. As a custodian of natural and cultural heritage sites which aims to be carbon neutral by 2030, the National Trust has a responsibility to encourage and facilitate more environmentally friendly forms of transport. We would urge them to reconsider this decision.”
