Buses connecting communities: Campaign for Better Transport comments

31 October 2025

31 October 2025

The Government has responded to the Transport Committee’s report, ‘Buses connecting communities’. Commenting on the Government’s response, Silviya Barrett of Campaign for Better Transport said:

“All communities deserve a decent bus service. It is disappointing that the Government is not yet prepared to commit to defining a minimum acceptable level of public transport connectivity, which would help eradicate ‘transport deserts’. But its promised review of bus funding allocations is an important first step so that existing investment is targeted at the places that need it most. We will continue working with the Government, bus operators and local transport authorities to identify and fill the gaps in provision to ensure communities are not cut off.”
