Christine Townley is a Chartered Engineer and experienced senior leader whose career has spanned engineering, construction, education, skills and the voluntary sector. She led the Construction Youth Trust, working closely with senior leaders across the construction industry and organisations in the wider built environment. She has also held senior roles in adult education and led national education programmes for the Department for Education and Skills.

Christine is passionate about public transport and believes that good transport is essential to creating connected, sustainable communities and giving people the freedom to participate fully in society. She is an enthusiastic rail traveller and regularly travels by train throughout the UK and Europe, enjoying the opportunity to experience different places and communities.

She is particularly interested in making public transport accessible, affordable, reliable and an attractive alternative to the car.
