Richard has been a lifelong railway manager, and is still very active in the railway pensions field and as specialist adviser on railways to the House of Commons Transport Committee. During his time at National Express Group in the 2000s, his duties included transport policy affairs and he was on the Transport 2000 company board for a number of years.
