Celebrating scenic rail views
What’s your favourite view from the train? During Better Transport Week we teamed up with Community Rail Network (through its Scenic Rail Britain campaign) to run a ‘Scenic rail view’ competition. There were some glorious entries – check them out in this guest blog, courtesy of Community Rail Network.
“From striking city skylines and vibrant marinas to the rugged charm of Britain’s industrial heartlands, travelling by train offers some of the most captivating scenic rail views right from your seat.
As part of Better Transport Week, we celebrated these scenic moments through the #ScenicRailView competition – inviting you to share your favourite snapshots from the window seat. Your photos have captured the essence of rail travel: sustainable, inspiring, and full of unexpected beauty. So get comfy and browse these beautiful images of Britain’s scenic rail views.
Winning photo: Conwy Valley Line
The winning photo was the beautiful shot of the Conwy Valley Line, shown above, taken by CricketAleTrain on X.
Kirk (aka CricketAleTrain on X) said about his photo:
“The photo of the Conwy Estuary is taken from the Deganwy ‘Mountain’ officially named The Vadre. There are footpaths from Deganwy and it takes a steady 40-50 minute walk to the summit from the station. A much easier walk with equally stunning views is along the coastal path from Conwy Station via the Quayside and Deganwy to West Shore, Llandudno. This mainly level walk takes less than two hours and there are a few cafes on route!”
