Brilliant buses and coaches… terrific trains and trams… wonderful walking, cycling and shared transport… Better Transport Week celebrates the sustainable transport that connects us to the people we love and the things that matter.

Better transport does amazing things. It connects communities and brings people together; creates a thriving economy and revitalises local areas; it’s good for our health and wellbeing, and helps tackle climate change and air pollution.

This year, Better Transport Week takes place from 16 to 22 June. It is funded by the UK Government and supported by over 100 organisations.

With fun events, powerful actions, competitions and special offers, it’s time to get ready…

Five steps to get ready for Better Transport Week…

1. Pledge to use sustainable transport

Let’s show how vital and precious sustainable transport is! Sign a pledge to use public transport, car-share, walk, wheel or cycle at least once during Better Transport Week.

When I take a train, coach or bus, I can enjoy the journey, relax, and arrive refreshed. I also know it’s the best way to tackle air pollution and climate change. I’m hoping you’ll feel the same and want to climb on board too.”
– Jenny Agutter, patron of Campaign for Better Transport

2. Book your place at a Better Transport Week event

From Leeds to London, Bristol to Blackpool, there are exciting events all over the country to celebrate Better Transport Week, as well as some enticing online events. And even better – most of them are free to attend.

Join us on the for a scenic ride on the Settle-Carlisle line… attend the launch of 50 new electric buses in Plymouth… join a lively webinar about car-free leisure travel… or try out electric vehicles in Hull. You can see all of the events here.

We’re especially excited about our FREE Better Transport Conference in Manchester on Friday!

3. Act now to save money

To celebrate Better Transport Week, Transport for West Midlands are offering one week of FREE, unrestricted bus travel on the nBus network. The network covers Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry and many more places, so this really is a great offer. Read a flyer with more information, and be sure to sign up before 15 June!

4. Get snapping

Take a scenic photo from your train window, and you could win £100 in rail travel vouchers! Together with Scenic Rail Britain, we are running a #ScenicRailView photo competition on social media – join in on Bluesky, Instagram or X.

And next time you’re waiting at the bus stop, whether with friends, family or on your tod, take a fun bus stop selfie! On the Tuesday of Better Transport Week we’ll be showing our love for buses across social media, so share your selfie then and be sure to tag us!

5. Join in on social media

Finally, to make sure you don’t miss any of the #bettertransportweek action, make sure you’re following us on social media. As well as Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn we are now on Bluesky.

Get on board

I care about transport. I don’t want a future of traffic jams and dirty air. I want the Government to back public transport for a greener, fairer transport future. Please send me campaign actions and updates by email.
