Compensation deal is welcome but more is needed

5 July 2018

Responding to the compensation announced for rail travellers on disrupted Govia Thameslink Railway services, Campaign for Better Transport welcomed the deal but said that more was needed.

Steve Chambers, Public Transport Campaigner, Campaign for Better Transport said:

“We welcome this compensation announcement, which tallies with what we’ve been calling for. But this isn’t the end: disruption is still continuing so more compensation will be needed.

“The bigger issue is making sure this doesn’t happen again, which is why we’ve called for a review of the way the Government manages rail franchises.

“The timetable needs to be a commitment, not an aspiration.”
