Experience
Michael joined Campaign for Better Transport in 2022 and leads the organisation’s campaigns and public advocacy work. Connecting our research and policy programme with public-facing campaigns and political engagement, he has developed widely supported initiatives on rail reform, the national bus stop standard, trams, and international rail. With a humanities background and extensive experience in international performing arts, he has also led social cohesion projects involving refugees and community groups, and founded a multi-award-winning community rail group at his local station. A commitment to people, communities and quality of life underpins all his work to create a better transport system for all.
Why I work for Campaign for Better Transport:
Sustainable transport, and particularly public transport, lies at the heart of my vision of a healthy society. It is environmental sustainability, it is social equality, it is inspiring feats of engineering and infrastructure, cohesive communities, economic efficiency and, perhaps above all, it is deeply representative of the vital need for society to share. In a UK socio-political environment which often promotes private wealth over public health, sustainable, public transport is undoubtedly the way forward for a truly healthy society.
